Reincarnation was my individual graduation project. My main goal was to tell a story with a dynamic structure that still tells my story. A story without any form of order in which the different chapters appear to the viewer. Most (theatre) plays that have a dynamic structure depend on the audience to fill in the message or even the story that’s being “told”. Most games with a non linear structure are in fact masking it’s linearity with the illusion of choice in their storyline. My goal was to tell my story while giving the audience the choice of what they experience. It became a pillar with a beamer on it that could be turned 360 degrees to beam on 6 screens. While turning the beamer the user was able to experience the memories of the main character. There’s no structure in memory, therefor there’s no structure in the story. The user decides which memories he sees and which he leaves in the past. |
